Have you ever heard the instruction "Apply mula bandha" or "Apply the locks" in a yoga class? But just how do you do that? The concept of bandhas is one of the more subtle aspects of yoga and if you have ever been left feeling perplexed about the correct bandha action in your practice, you are not alone.
This workshop will give you greater understanding of bandhas on the physical and energetic levels.
Physically the bandhas are mechanisms that provide support and stability in posture and help to make your yoga practice safe.
Energetically, Bandhas are “locks”, or valves, in specific areas in the body, that once engaged can control (retain) dissipating energy.
In this workshop we will:- Discuss the location of each bandha while exploring the anatomy and function of the four core stabilizers
- Learn the anatomy of breath and its relationship to bandha practice
- Explore the techniques and tips for isolating and engaging the 3 main bandhas in your yoga practice and explore their benefits
- Discuss energetic aspects of the bandhas
- Apply the bandhas during the breath oriented asana practice
The workshop will offer a discussion, asana as well as breath work to help to keep you balanced, supported from the inside, and connected to your practice.
